Dear Volunteers,

Fairfax Pets on Wheels, Inc. Board of Directors has voted to immediately suspend the following activities due to novel coronavirus or COVID-19:

1.       All pet-team visits in nursing homes and adult daycares

2.       Temperament Testing

3.       Orientation

These activities are suspended until at least September 30, 2020.

We realize this is a drastic measure and one that FPOW has never taken before.  Because COVID-19 poses such grave risk to the population we serve and hold dear; we feel this measure is warranted for the immediate future in order to keep everyone safe.

We are actively monitoring the situation and will keep you posted on when it is safe to start visiting again.  The safety and wellbeing of everyone and every pet associated with FPOW is paramount.

We strongly encourage you to consult with your own healthcare provider should you have any questions regarding COVID-19 and the Center for Disease Control’s website at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html

Kind regards,

Nikki DiPalma

President, Board of Directors

You'll touch someone's life and change your own.

Pet Visitation

Visiting with a pet brings back wonderful memories, allowing for a meaningful connection to happier times. Pet visitation has been medically proven to have a calming effect, touching animals helps chase away loneliness, depression, and withdrawal.

Inclement Weather Policy

Fairfax Pets On Wheels will follow the Fairfax County school system’s policy on event cancellations due to inclement weather. This FPOW policy would be for non-visiting events, such as new volunteer orientations, temperament tests, etc. The news of the school system’s cancellations is carried by radio and television stations, which are notified as soon as a decision is made.
